Pre-operative Instructions
1. Consultation: Before the procedure, schedule a consultation with Dr. Kamal to discuss the surgery, anesthesia, and any medical conditions or medications that you are currently taking.
2. Food and Drink: DO NOT eat or drink anything (including water) for at least 6 hours before the procedure. It is important to have an empty stomach to prevent nausea or vomiting during the surgery.
3. Medications: Follow your dentist's instructions regarding any medications that you are taking, such as blood thinners. Your dentist may ask you to stop taking certain medications or adjust the dosage before the surgery.
4. Clothing: Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows you to move your arms freely. Avoid wearing jewelry, contact lenses, or dentures during the procedure.
5. Transportation: Arrange for a responsible adult to drive you home after the surgery, as the anesthesia and pain medications may impair your ability to drive or operate machinery.
6. Accompaniment: It is recommended to have someone accompany you to the surgery and stay with you for a few hours after the procedure.
7. Hygiene: Brush and floss your teeth as usual, but be gentle around the surgical area. Do not use mouthwash or rinse your mouth on the day of the surgery.
8. Smoking and Alcohol: Do not smoke or drink alcohol for at least 48 hours before the procedure, as they can interfere with the healing process.
9. Health Conditions: Inform your oral surgeon or dentist about any health conditions, such as diabetes or high blood pressure, that may affect your recovery.
10. Please avoid the use of contacts on day of surgery and wear glasses instead.
